MAIN OBJECTIVES FOR THE ROLE:

* To manage the Centre and the staff in accordance with legislation;
* To establish financial sustainability and work to build on the
success of the Centre, creating the conditions required for the
creation of a full time Manager role.
* To implement the Strategic Plan

JOB SPECIFICATION

IT

The Manager will edit and update the website and manage the Facebook
page and contribute regularly to social media outlets, including
twitter, instagram etc.
The Centre aims to move to an IT-based operation and the Manager will
be central to this plan with the introduction of online booking and
payment options for clients and the provision of an up-to-date chart
of booked and available-to-rent spaces.

COMMUNICATIONS & REPORT WRITING

The Manager will:

* write clear, concise, reports and briefings;
* write grant applications;
* draft Press Releases and promote the Centre and the activities
through traditional print and broadcast media.
* produce information and promotional material in the form of
flyers, newsletters and other print items;
* make presentations to funding, grant-making organisations or
corporate entities;
* present to and facilitate meetings of specific groups within the
community;

The Communications objective is to share up-to-date information
regularly in various formats with all stakeholders, including
community, staff and volunteers, funders, local businesses etc.

FINANCE & FUNDING

The Manager will:

* prepare an annual income and expenditure budget, control costs
within the agreed budget and report monthly to the Board;
* rationalise the use of space within the Centre and maximise income
from rentals;
* carry out bookkeeping and Payroll using Sage software, issue
invoices and pay accounts, manage banking, including lodgements;
* liaise with existing funders and raise additional funds from
various means including grant applications, donations and fundraising.

GOVERNANCE

The Manager will:

* be responsible for implementing the Strategic Plan as directed by
the Board
* attend Board meetings, draft Minutes and Agendas, implement
policies and procedures, be aware of legislation as it affects
non-profits, update documentation, as required, with Regulators;
* liaise with the external auditor with regard to annual accounts
and organise the AGM.

STAFF MANAGEMENT & BUILDING MAINTENANCE

The Manager will:

Provide management, support and training for staff;

* oversee day to day smooth running of the Centre and build a
relationship with clients;
* manage the building in accordance with best practice for facility
management.
* work alongside and provide administrative support for the
voluntary sub-committees and working groups appointed by the Board

The objective is to provide a healthy and supportive workplace for
staff that is in line with legislation and to maintain the building
and external surrounds in compliance with regulations, ensuring good
hygiene, aesthetics and action on Climate Change;

To carry out any other work that may from time to time be considered
as part of the role

PERSONAL QUALITIES

* an outgoing personality and kind nature, enjoy relating to, and

The person appointed will have proven skills, experience and knowledge

SKILLS WILL INCLUDE:

* office computer skills e.g. Microsoft programmes such as Word,

KNOWLEDGE OF THE FOLLOWING WILL BE AN ADVANTAGE:

* Employment legislation, Company Law and Charities legislation, in

EXPERIENCE OF THE FOLLOWING WILL BE AN ADVANTAGE:

* Working with volunteers and people on employment programmes
* reporting to a non-profit Board;
* maintaining a community-owned building;
* community Development or Arts Administration and provision of
information and support to the diverse age groups and cultural
backgrounds that make up a community;

The building has a constant flow of people arriving and departing from

rostered to have a presence at Reception and to prepare the hall and
other spaces for bookings. Adherence to Health & Safety regulations is
an important factor. During opening hours staff respond to personal
callers and to telephone queries.
Situated in the Bayside SC area, the Centre is owned by the community.

hall, stage area, smaller social area and offices.

Current staffing levels: part time clerical person, full-time
